Otago Southland Secondary Schools Ski and Snowboard Champs 2022
The Otago Southland Secondary Schools Ski and Snowboard Champs were held at Coronet Peak recently, and Columba College was super proud to have five students entered in the day of alpine competition.
Tessa Smith (Year 11), Charlotte Affleck, Arabella Boaden-Trotter, Grace Rushbrook (all Year 10) and Edie Affleck (Year 9), participated in the championship event and represented Columba College with pure talent and pride.
A fabulous time away on the slopes, all students performed their hearts out and demonstrated skill, speed and stamina competing in such an exhilarating competition.
Some fantastic individual performances were seen, and points accumulated resulted in Columba College coming second overall! This is a wonderful achievement considering that we were up against some of the more serious ski and snow sport schools of Central Otago. A special mention must go to Tessa Smith for gaining third place in the individual division (only behind two Wakatipu School students who race regularly with the Queenstown Alpine Ski Team), and Grace Rushbrook who took out first place in the snowboarding division.
What a wonderful report from the snow! Congratulations to all our students who participated in this event and represented the school so well. We are extremely proud of you. Thank you also to the amazing parents who continue to support and encourage our snow sport students at Columba - we are hugely grateful for all you do!
