Year 13 students received quite a surprise when they opened their English paper this year.

Mrs Harris' poem, 'Frank', previously published in Poetry New Zealand, turned up in the 2020 Level 3 English exam.

Mrs Harris was completely unaware that her poem was featured in the unfamiliar text paper for Year 13 this year until Mr Tagg messaged her from the exam room. Later, some of her Year 13 students emailed her, saying how surreal it was to realise that they needed to analyse a poem about their teacher's childhood. 

Holly Friedlander said she found it "difficult to reflect on 'how things impact us' when I have spent many an hour with the very person affected". Mrs Harris has said she is delighted to have had a captive audience!
