KiVa

Administration —

KiVa is a Finnish word which means kindness.

We are excited to announce that we are now one of a community of 50+ KiVa schools in New Zealand.

The KiVa programme is backed by decades of research and is administered by Victoria University in New Zealand. While officially it is an anti-bullying programme, it is so much more. It teaches three important skills our students will need in life:

a. How to resist peer pressure

b. How to treat others with respect

c. How to take responsibility

The programme is well resourced and the lessons are explicitly taught in the classroom (Years 2-10) at an age appropriate level. Beyond the classroom, KiVa is instrumental in developing a whole-school culture of empathy and treating others with kindness.

Please see the attached parent information sheet. This includes a link to the KiVa parents' guide, which we recommend you read if you would like to learn more.

For any questions relating to KiVa please contact our Head of Schools, Mrs Emma Harris.
