April Fool’s Day Writing

Mrs C Cheyne —

Last Friday, Year 7 wrote some April Fool’s jokes for our school newsletter. Enjoy reading four of them!

After careful thought and consideration by both Boards of Trustees, Columba College is now going to become a mixed-gender school for Years 7-8 as well as our Junior School. Not only this, but from now on we will be merging with Balmacewen Intermediate to expand our community. With this final decision, the Balmacewen Intermediate campus will become our new Columba College Junior School. This will leave our Junior School facilities open to become our new Intermediate school area. We understand that there will be many questions and we will release further information soon.

Columba College Year 10 students have genetically mutated apples to make you invisible. This shocking new discovery has made scientists think that many theories in modern science are wrong and have made them rethink genetic engineering. This mutated apple will be called the “Miracle Fruit”. If a regular-sized adult consumes two Miracle Fruits they become invisible within the hour! However, this effect does not work on everyone, though for most the thrilling sensation of being invisible is like a childhood dream. The Miracle Fruit can be dangerous to consume for anyone who has recently suffered a heart attack. This fruit will soon be sold in supermarkets.

Thanks to the fundraiser last year for Columba College, they have now grown a very rare Cheese Mountain! You're probably wondering how you make your own Cheese Mountain? Well, it's a long process. First, you need 2000g of milk and 100 pounds of flour. It takes about a year to get to its fully grown size. Its fully grown size is about 50m tall! The kids love eating the Cheese and the parents don't have to pack lunches because the kids eat the cheese and it takes about a year to demolish the mountain. Another positive is that the Intermediate kids don't have a playground, but now they can climb the cheese mountain! So thanks to you all for making this possible.

Ding! Ding!

“What time is it?”

“Holly, you’re going to be late for school!” said my sister, Izzy.

I jumped out of bed and only had 10 minutes to do my hair, brush my teeth and make my bed. I quickly ate a big chunk of apple, grabbed my bag and ran out the door.

“Wait a second! It’s Saturday! I don’t have school!”

“Haha, April Fool’s Day!” said my sister.
