NZ Secondary Schools Swimming Championships 2020
The NZSS Swimming Championships were held recently in Hamilton, and Columba College had two athletes competing in this highly contested event. Running across 6 sessions from Thursday 15 - Sunday 18 October 2020, this national swimming meet sees the best secondary school athletes go head-to-head for the title of national champion.
Emma Morton (Year 10) and Clara Peniamina (Year 9) attended the NZ Secondary Schools Swimming Champs in Hamilton recently. It was great for the girls to be back racing finally after so much time out of the pool as a result of Covid-19. Despite a significant loss of training time in the pool this year for all swimmers, it was a very competitive meet.
Emma achieved six personal best times (PBs) with a 5th in the 200m Breaststroke, 10th in the 100m Breaststroke, and 11th in the 50m Breaststroke.
Clara achieved two PBs, placing 4th in the 200m freestyle, 5th in the 400m Freestyle, and 11th placings in the 100m freestyle & 50m Breaststroke.
Well done Clara and Emma! You should be extremely proud of your results, and we congratulate you both!
