Weetbix Kids TRYathlon 2024

Mrs G Beardmore —

The annual Weetbix Kids TRYathlon event was held over the weekend in Mosgiel, and Columba College had a wonderful representation of students from the Junior School participating in this greatly anticipated festival of physical activity!

On Sunday 3rd March, a large crowd of excited and enthusiastic children gathered at Taieri College for the annual Weetbix Kids TRYathlon. Included in the group was a group of keen Columba College Junior School students. It was a chilly start to the morning, however, the trusty Mosgiel sun arrived in time, and it turned out to be a lovely day for the event.

There was a great buzz under the Columba tent, with the young athletes excited to be together for their events. Students either participated individually or were part of a team - swimming, biking and running. We had students from ages 6 up to 11 years of age competing. It was an extremely well-run event with many different activities for children (and parents) to engage with each other while they waited for their turn. The Weetbix breakfast was a hit for everyone!

The Columba College students all gave 100% effort and tried their absolute best. They showed great teamwork and spirit and demonstrated the values of GRACE beautifully throughout the day. Year 6 Columba student, Maya, was even lucky enough to win a spot prize - an ASICS voucher! Well done, Maya.

A big thank you to the parents for their help setting up and taking down the tent, and for their support and care towards 'Team Columba'. Students and whanau alike are already greatly looking forward to the Weetbix TRYathlon in 2025!
