Mufti Day -Thursday 27 June
Thursday 27 June we will be having a mufti day to raise money for Harry Finch.
Our boarders will be very familiar with this name and his journey, some may also recognize his name from the Otago Daily Times. However for those who don't, attached is a photo of Harry.
Harry is a three year old boy who has Cerebral Palsy. Due to this disease Harry has always been unable to walk. This means that unlike his identical twin Ollie, he is unable to live life to the same extent. Harry's Mum is a hard working Supervisor at the St Hilda's hostel and in support of her and Harry’s journey last term St Hilda’s hostel hosted a four way boarding schools event to raise money for little Harry to fund his huge journey to the States to receive life changing surgery. We boarders here at Columba attended this event to show our support for Harry. However to show our further support as a school Abby and I thought what a better way to do it than to have a mufti day to help him out that little bit more. Although Harry has returned from receiving his surgery in the States, which to our knowledge was successful, he still has an extremely challenging and long path ahead of him and we want to play our part to help him and his family.
As the colour for cerebral palsy is green the theme of this mufti day will be green. So bring a gold coin donation at minimum and dress up in something green. Let’s help get this little boy on his road to recovery so that he can achieve his dream of walking for the first time and accomplish many more goals of his own.
Thank you.
Ashlee Turner (Head of House), and Abby Griffin (Deputy Head of House)
