Touch players standout among New Zealand
Congratulations to Charli Sinclair, Madison Flutey, Pip Eason and Asha Murphy who received their NZ Singlets for the U16 Girls Touch Team.
What a huge honour to wear the Fern and represent your country at the highest level. These four took part in a campaign held in Auckland in the holidays which involved fitness testing, a three-day training camp and two-day tournament against some of the top women's club teams in New Zealand.
Charli, Maddie, Pip and Asha's talents were evident on the big stage dominating for their teams and putting their hands up as go-to players. The future for these students looks incredibly bright, they are keen learners and soak up feedback to excel in their roles on the field. Off the field, they are a delight to work with and create an awesome culture to be around.
Huge congratulations need to be given to Charli Sinclair and Pip Eason for receiving the 'Players Player' awards in their respective teams. It is incredibly special to be voted players' choice by your peers and these two stood out among their group. Madison Flutey was not only awarded Captain for her leadership within her team but was also recognised as the Most Valuable Player for her contribution to all aspects of the game.
Well done to you all on a fabulous start to the 2022 Touch Season; best of luck for Touch Nationals as you represent our Otago region and, of course, Columba College.
Shout out to Alex Piebenga from John McGlashan College who was a member of the U16 Boys' Team at the same event. He had a phenomenal tournament and was also acknowledged as his team's M.V.P. Go Alex!!
