Peer Tutoring

Miss L Seaton —

Peer tutoring has been going really well this term with many students being supported in their learning by senior students.

During the lockdown when we could not meet in person many tutor pairs/groups connected with video calls to continue tutoring. Now that we are back at school it has been really lovely to get back to in-person sessions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our tutors for their time and effort which allows this programme to run so well! It is really nice to see Columba students supporting each other in this way.

Peer tutoring is available to any student in years 7-11 who would like some one-on-one (or two-on-one with a friend) support with their school work. They are matched up with a hardworking year 12 or 13 student who they can meet with at a lunch or afterschool time as often as is needed. This programme is completely free and available for anyone who would like the support. To sign up please email: laraseaton@columbacollege.school.nz

Additionally the Maths Department has been kindly running Mathematics and Statistics tutorials led by teachers twice a week for several years. These are held on Wednesdays 8am - 8:30am in S4 and Thursday 3:30pm - 4:30pm in S3 and are available for any student in years 7-13 to attend. This is another excellent way to get some support for Maths.

I hope everyone has a wonderful break over the holidays and comes back feeling refreshed for the next term.
