The role of Sports Prefect at Columba College involves a range of responsibilities. My role is varied and includes encouraging a high participation rate in sports teams and sporting events, helping the sports council with new initiatives, and being a role model for those with interests in the sporting field.

Throughout the year, Columba held multiple events such as Athletics day and Swimming sports. These were filled with numerous house competitions, both fun and social, and were a great opportunity to dress up in house colours.

I have genuinely enjoyed getting to know a lot of new faces around the school. Being Sports Prefect is a really rewarding leadership role, and I have enjoyed watching others succeed, as well as the development of sports teams throughout the year. This year, as always, there have been an exponential amount of achievements and successes, both individual and within teams.

As a community, the prefects thoroughly enjoy being able to celebrate everyone's achievements within the college. This is an important part of the prefect position, making sure that those who do well and work hard get the recognition they deserve. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be a leader in an area that I thrive in. Being a leader in this environment has definitely broadened my understanding of how other students learn and work at their best. These are really valuable skills that I will now be able to carry with me. I am excited to see the ongoing growth of sport at Columba College and will always feel privileged to have been Sports Prefect in 2021.
