Taking a Stand Against Bullying

Miss M George —

On May 21st, we will have a non-uniform day to highlight the importance of supporting one another.

On Friday, 21st May, Columba College, along with many other schools around the country, will be celebrating Pink Shirt for Mental Health Day.

Aiming for inclusivity, the Pink Shirt initiative aspires to bring an end to bullying and embrace diversity within schools. No matter your race, religion, sexuality, gender identity or ability, no one deserves to face any harassment within school. This global celebration of kindness and love began 14 years ago in Canada when two students wore pink to school in support of a new student who was bullied for wearing the colour.

All gold coin donations will go towards the Pink Shirt foundation and will help to continue their anti-bullying initiatives world-wide. On this day, do not only wear pink but make it your mission to stand against injustice, reach out to those who may need it or simply compliment someone who may need some cheering up.
