Holly's design caught the eye of the judges and her combination of British Victorian costume was a nod to NZ colonialism and the Māori figure on the unicycle was a strong bicultural blend. "Tahi tohou: Let's come together as one"

Columba College History Poster Competition Winners

Mrs Riepl —

We have had a tremendous buy-in from History students to both the school and national poster design competitions on these two themes: NZ's Colonial History and 'History Is...'

I am delighted to announce the 3 winners of the school-wide History competition, as voted on by what can only be described as a prestigious staff judging panel with the neutrality of Switzerland in World War II. This neutrality was assured by the anonymity of the entrants at the voting stage:

Joint 1st with the highest number of votes

Sophie Bowmar and Holly Bancroft

Sophie and Holly each receive a $35 book voucher

2nd place Georgia Wong

Georgia wins a $25 book voucher

Well done to the winners and a big thank you to all my  students who joined in the competition. The national competition winners will be announced in a few weeks' time.
