Polyfest 2025
In the first week of September, Columba College had three kapa haka rõpū perform at the annual Polyfest, along with our Pasifika Dance group.
Pasifika-Columba Dance
The Columba College community is very proud to have had Emy, Delilah, Giaan, Eve, Taua, Shiah and Gizelle represent their Pacific cultures (Samoan and Cook Island) in this year's Polyfest performance.
They performed three dances.
Samoan Entrance: Faliu le la.
Samoan Siva: Terne Samoa
Cook Island: Purotu oki koe (accompanied by ukulele and voice).
The students danced each piece with grace and beauty and with clear pride in their own heritage and culture. The College is grateful to have had the wonderful expertise, experience and care from the Pasifika community in the teaching of these precious dances.
Many thanks to Andrew Rouvi, Teina Makira, Christina Mualia and Faumu Taele-Pavihi, as well as the Pacific musicians.
