SISS Tennis Championships
Despite a bumpy build up with the South Island Secondary Schools (SISS) Tennis tournament being cancelled and then reinstated, two young Columba College students were not deterred and travelled to Christchurch to take on the best at Nga Puna Wai.
Alice Porter and Alexi Sheehan (both Year 9), aptly named the 'A Team' seized an opportunity to represent Columba College and entered the prestigious South Island Secondary Schools Tennis Championships over the weekend of 26th/27th February in Christchurch.
Facing tough competition throughout the two day event, both Alice and Alexi played some superb tennis and represented Columba with pride, grace, and grit! A wonderful experience and learning opportunity for both players, the teams cup event competition was fierce. As a result, Alice and Alexi's skills were elevated on court leading to some great matches against their opposition.
We are extremely proud of both Alice and Alexi for competing in this tournament, displaying great determination and 'can do' attitude, representing Columba College with pride. A massive thank you to team manager Grant Porter for helping to make this trip possible. The Sports Department is incredibly lucky to have the support of a wonderful parent community, who enable sporting experiences such as this to occur for our students.
