A box of goodies for our friends in France

Miss C Gardiner —

Year 10 students learning French have written letters to pen pals in a school in the south of France. We decided to send with the letters a box of our favourite NZ lollies. We hope to receive our box of French goodies in a few weeks time.

The pen pal exchange is organised between Miss Gardiner at Columba College in Dunedin and Ms Gardner at college Nikki St Phalle in Valbonne. Two classes from each school are involved and they are around similar ages. Many of the students from Nikki St Phalle will go on to the high school Centre International de Valbonne (CIV), with which we would usually organise our overseas exchange.

We have been learning to talk about our interests in French as well as describe where we live, which seemed very natural to tell our pen pals. We all wrote in fantastic French and hope to receive letters back in English. Anything we haven't learnt to say we can say in our native tongue. We are looking forward to hearing from our pen pal partners soon!
