Cattle Beast Procurement

Sports Council —

The Columba College Sports’ Council is looking for support for a cattle procurement fundraising scheme. Such schemes have proved successful in the past but recent changes in bio-security measures have necessitated a change in the way these schemes operate.

As a Council, we are proposing to purchase cattle beasts from within the Columba College community ie purchase a beast in a current herd. The Council would pay an agreed price to the vendor/farmer, who would in turn graze the cattle beast as a normal part of their herd. When the time came for the beast to be sold, the vendor/farmer would credit the school with proceeds from the sale of that beast.

We would be looking to start this initiative to coincide with the spring cattle sales. This timing would also provide a good estimate on the value of the beasts and how much capital outlay would be required to purchase them.

Everyone can participate by donating to the ‘seed capital’ fund to allow for the initial purchase of the beasts, if they are unable to graze a beast.

The funds generated will help provide support for our teams and allow the Sports Council to continue with its development of sport at Columba. We would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the generosity and help of the families currently involved.
