Columba Rowers race for medals

Mrs Sinclair —

Columba College Rowers gained a number of A finals and medals at the recent South Island Club rowing Championships.

Our Columba College rowing squad has been training very hard over the summer break. This last weekend saw South Island club champs up in Twizel where despite the windy conditions the squad came away with 7 of our crews making A finals and 3 of those crews gaining podium finishes.

Tegan Wisnesky, Siena Snow, Madison Sullivan, Elyse Davey and Coxswain Tamzin Burgess gained silver in the girls U17 quad.

The girls Novice 8 with Laura Sammut, Caitlin O’Brien, Bridgette Sutton, Mary Gavin, Meg Macdougall, Mia Bohm, Alice Quill, Millie Scott and Coxswain Brooke Kendall gained third place and a bronze medal

The Under 17 double of Tegan Wisnesky and Siena Snow also gained bronze.

Other crews that made A finals include the Novice Four, two Under 16 Fours and the Under 17 Single.

Overall this was a very successful regatta and congratulations to crews that earned medals. These results have been very pleasing for the squad and shows potential and has proven to be a good motivator in the lead up to South Island Secondary Schools and Maadi Cup. A massive Thank you to our amazing coaches Matt, Gabby and Saskia who have given up a credible amount of time into our training and the parents and supporters for their help behind the scenes this weekend.
