Congratulations to Millie George, Year 10 who won the 2018 Otago Junior Speech Competition.

On Tuesday 27 November Millie George represented Columba College at the King's and Queen's Performing Arts Centre at the Otago Junior Speech Competition. The top junior speaker from each Dunedin Secondary School was sent to competitively deliver a speech of no more than four minutes. 

The judge, Debbie Varcoe, was impressed by the quality this year and spoke of the importance of oratory in a world that was becoming increasingly digital. Millie's important speech on the power of education to overcome prejudice was delivered flawlessly and had peaks and troughs that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.
