Matariki dinner at the Boarding House

Mrs M Parks —

The stars were shining brightly in our school boarding house last night as boarders and guests enjoyed a midwinter dinner in celebration of Matariki, which marks the start of the Maori New Year.

Great food, great company and lots of singing combined to represent a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

After three failed attempts (due to outbreaks of COVID-19) we were finally able to acknowledge our Year 13 leaders for 2022 and congratulate our NCEA top scholars from 2021.

Congratulations to Head Boarding Student for 2022, Annabelle Hurst, and to boarding prefects Kate Oliver, Phoebe Wellstead, Renee Mosley and Isabella Weston-Cooke.

Special congratulations also to 2021 top boarding scholars Zoe McElrea (level 1) Maya Bromby (level 2) and Rita Close (level 3). Huge congratulations to you all.

Special thanks to all those involved in organising a thoroughly enjoyable evening (particularly our super star Supervisor, Belinda) and boarding students Georgia Drummond, Sara Reynolds, Amy Hill, Sienna Harper, Annabelle Hurst and Renee Mosley who all had key roles through the night. As usual, top marks to our awesome kitchen team who served a delicious menu totally reflective of the occasion - especially the mussels!
