The Columba College Young Enterprise Team Hive9 have been busy at work over the first two terms of this year and we are excited to announce that we will be selling dehydrated honey.

We have sent 25kg of Wrights honey to our producer in Marlborough, Canvastown and the product has been dehydrated, packaged and is now ready to get out to the market. Hive9 have created a bag including 20 individual 5 gram sachets of powdered honey formulated to add flavour to your favourite foods and excite your coffee and make your experience with honey a whole lot more convenient. We want you to enjoy the ease of honey not the sticky mess creamy, cone or liquid honey creates.

Our vision is to open the market to a new form of honey, and share the success of dehydrated honey with the community, not to mention helping the honey industry grow. There are many uses for dehydrated honey. It is gorgeous in many food combinations such as coffee, hot chocolate, throat soothing drinks, on cereals, mixed with yoghurt and sprinkled on top of Sunday Roasts so give is a pinch of sweetness. This is just a start of a long list of combinations for the honey, but there are so many more! The sweet flavour of honey infused within the powder will tingle your taste buds, leaving you with a need for more. Here is a recipe you may like to try with our product however, we are excited to see also, what you create with this product.

Honey Chicken

Ingredients

• 400g diced chicken
• 5tbs soy sauce
• 3tbs flour (all purpose)
• 3 sachets of Hive9 honey powder

In a large bowl add all the ingredients and mix evenly so all the chicken pieces are covered in the marinade. Leave for at least 30 minutes to marinade. Add a small drizzle of oil to a medium sized pan and cook chicken on medium heat until it is white in the middle. Once cooked serve with vegetables or in tortilla’s for a delicious lunch or dinner.
