Scholarship breakfast

Ms K Evans —

Hot cross buns and a visit from alumni Lara Seaton (Dux) and Abby Bowmar (Head Girl 2020) made this event a hit.

Last week we hosted a Scholarship breakfast to help students navigate how to go about scholarship in various subjects. We outlined the benefits of further exploration into favourite subjects for the love of learning and how this is so beneficial to tertiary study later on. Aside from that, the financial incentives of NCEA Scholarship were covered and the fact that achieving it in any subject at year 12 puts students in a fantastic position when applying for big tertiary academic scholarships the following year.

Many hot cross buns were eaten and good questions were asked of previously successful students. For years 12 and 13 students: if you would like help in specific subjects, make sure that you approach your subject teacher and find out how you can be supported. We want to help you reach your academic potential and it is worth a go for the practice alone at year 12.
