Junior School Ski Weekend
Chance conversation leads to a weekend of fun.
A conversation with Mrs Sally Choie led to the re-instatement of a Junior Ski Weekend, which was scheduled for 5 – 6 September at Coronet Peak, the earliest time we could book the Vincent Ski Club Hut for those who wished to stay on the mountain.
We initially had expressions of interest from about 75 adults and children but, understandably, with all the uncertainties surrounding Covid and the move to Alert Level 2, we ended up with a group of 17 children and 17 adults, half of whom stayed in the Vincent Hut and half down in Queenstown.
We were blessed with stunning weather, a recent fall of snow and very few people on the mountain. It was a real joy watching the children, especially those who had not skied before, making huge progress and flying fearlessly down the slopes by day 2.
All in all, it was a great weekend and we’ve locked in the first weekend
of September for next year. I’m just sorry
that I didn’t think to organise this in earlier years but hope that it will
become an annual event and that I might be able to tag along. Thank-you to all the families who helped make
it such a fun weekend!
