Stir up your muse and start writing!

Mrs S Montgomerie —

There are two great writing competitions open for the budding writers at Columba College.

1.  Our own Columba College Writing Competition is now underway. There are two sections to the competition - The Cilla McQueen Creative Writing Award for Poetry and The Elspeth Sandys Creative Writing Award for Prose. The competition is named after two prestigious Columba College Old Girls. They are noted New Zealand writers who have won awards for their writing, both nationally and internationally.

We are delighted that esteemed local writers Michelle Elvy and Vanda Symon will judge the competition. We also acknowledge the support of the University Bookshop in donating book vouchers for the prize-winners.

2. The New Zealand Poetry Society International Competition is now accepting entries. There is Junior Writers' Section (up to age 17) for both haiku and free verse. The free verse section has the theme of 'Mythology' and poems are limited to 32 lines. Entries need to be in to Mrs Montgomerie by March 25th.
