Basketball is one of the sports with the highest participation rate at Columba College.

There are many social teams from years 9-13, that focus on playing for fun with their friends, but also have a competitive spirit. Our Senior A and Junior A basketball teams are both successful and enjoyable, and as a result many Columba girls have made Otago representative teams this year, similar to previous years. Basketball continues to grow annually, due to the social aspect and inclusivity of the sport. This is an important point of difference for basketball at Columba, and is often valued over and above skill level. The future for basketball is bright, and we hope to further encourage participation rates in both social and competitive grades across our school. Our goal is to ensure Columba Basketball continues to compete well with schools in Otago and during our annual basketball exchange with St. Andrews College.
