Shuttlecock Kicking

Ms I Ding —

Year 0-1 and Year 2 students learned about the evolution of the Olympic Games and explored the Tokyo Olympics together with Miss Yang and Ms Ding.

The two classes worked in groups to learn colours together. Year 0-1 students have already learned colours in Term 2,  and now they are helping Year 2 students to practise their pronunciation of different colours. Everyone participated enthusiastically in the group activities and made excellent use of lesson time.

Year 0-1 students are continuing to learn sports topics. Ms Ding used school new turf to teach 'shuttlecock kicking' (Chinese: 踢毽子tī jiànzi). Our young learners loved this game and had lots of fun.

Chinese shuttlecock kicking is a traditional Chinese national sport. The primary source of Chinese shuttlecock kicking is a Chinese ancient game called cuju, developed in the Han dynasty 2000 years ago. This game helps students strengthen their legs and enhance their concentration. Shuttlecock kicking is not only great fun but also provides vigorous physical exercise.
