Columba Student Succeeds at NZ Secondary School Diving Champs
The Columba Sports Department is incredibly proud to share with our community the success of one of our students who attended the NZ National Secondary and Intermediate Diving Championships in Auckland recently.
During the school holidays, Year 10 student Elizabeth competed at the Diving New Zealand National Secondary and Intermediate Schools Championships at ‘West Wave’ in Auckland.
Elizabeth represented Columba College on the 1-metre and 3-metre springboards. She competed in the Girls' Year 15 -16 age group, and in a field of 11 participants, she achieved a most respectable 5th place overall.
Elizabeth also competed in the 3-metre Synchro competition with her long-standing synchro partner Archie from Bayfield High School. Elizabeth and Archie were placed 3rd overall, which surprised and pleased them both in equal measure.
Elizabeth followed the two competitions up with her attendance at the Diving New Zealand Age Group Training Camp, where she trained with fellow New Zealand Squad divers for a 2-day intensive. Congratulations, Elizabeth! Your dedication and hard work in your chosen sport is clearly paying dividends! Keep up the fantastic mahi.
