Year 10 student, Emily, won the Open Junior Section of the 2023 New Zealand Poetry Society International Competition

We are lucky enough to have heard Emily read her prize-winning poem in assembly. Emily is an avid Classics scholar, having studied Level 2 Classics and sat the Scholarship Classics examination this year as a Year 10 student, so it is little surprise her passion for Hellenistic tales has informed her own writing. Emily's poem, Eurydice, is both delicate and strong and was a well-deserving recipient of this prestigious prize.
