Prefects take on their Peers

Mrs G Beardmore —

On Wednesday this week, the Columba College Prefects took on their Kings counterparts in a closely matched game of netball in the Marsh Sports Centre. An annual event that always brings high energy, much banter and immense enjoyment, the game was played with great spirit and sportsmanship.

Every year, the Columba Prefects in consultation with prefects from King's High School, John McGlashan and Otago Boys' High School, arrange much-anticipated sports exchanges between the schools where the student leaders take on each other in sporting challenges.

This week, King's High School visited Columba College during lunchtime on Wednesday 29th June 2022. The gymnasium walls were lined with Green Blazers as Columba students from across the school came to support their friends and be entertained at the same time!

With music playing, fabulous vibes flowing and humorous game commentary over the loudspeaker, it is easy to see why these exchanges are such a hit for players and spectators alike!

A closely matched game of netball flowed, and despite some sublime skills on show from both the girls' and the boys' teams, Kings came out on top with a narrow 24-19 victory over Columba.

Great entertainment courtesy of the Prefects! Always an enjoyable event to look out for in the sports calendar.
