Quad Tournament

Miss A Anderson —

Back to back outright victories for Columba College after sharing the shield in both 2016 and 2017!

The past two years have seen Columba prevail on top as winners of the annual winter Quadrangular inter-school against Craighead Diocesan School, St Hilda's Collegiate School and St Margaret's College.

It has been a successful few years for Columba College at the popular exchange, although it does not come easy. Competing in Debating, Badminton, Hockey and Netball, all codes are tightly contested and many go down to the wire. We are incredibly proud of our Badminton and Debating groups for winning three from three against their opposition to claim first place and keeping the scrolls for another year.

Our Hockey and Netball teams were not at full strength because of injuries but came away with pleasing results - both finishing second equal after a win, a loss and a draw respectively. The two draws on day two proved crucial in contributing to the overall win and ensuring we were able to once again engrave Columba College onto the shield. Overall, 12 competitions took place. Columba won eight, drew two and lost two- statistics we are extremely proud of. All students represented Columba College with pride and upheld our values of Grace and Good Discipline.

Contribution Awards were presented to one student per school for each sport. Debating went to Abby Bowmar who also gained three best speaker accolades in each debate. Badminton was awarded to Kelly Hoyt for her talent and leadership. Hockey honours were given to Ella McCall for holding together the midfield and keeping composure while show-casing her skill. And finally, Emma Dermody received the netball MVP award for her leadership and court composure. Well done.

Columba College student athletes would like to thank all the coaches, managers, tournament organisers, referees, host families and parents for all their support. It is incredibly special to have encouragement from everyone involved and it really drives our teams to work hard for every point earned. We appreciate all the positive comments over the result and now look forward to hosting the exchange in August 2020.
