Student Success in the Art Department

Ms Andrew —

The Art department has had a busy and exciting Term 3. Our senior students have been working hard on their NCEA folios and have also been participating in public art exhibitions/competitions.

The following senior students were represented at the 'Celebrate' exhibition of Dunedin schools art student at the Otago Polytechnic School of Art:

  • Charlotte Cook, Year 12 Photography student who's edgy work represents a visual expression of the Vivisection/cruelty to animals issue
  • Pamela Han, also Year 12 Photography who won the school Excellence award for her beautiful and haunting photograph of Cultural Identity

Year 13 student Courtney Parks did the school proud by winning the overall scholarship of Excellence for Design at the Celebrate Design Awards held at the Dunedin Design school for her stunning and intricate/cool design work.

We also have a finalist in the National Wallace school art award competition which takes place in Auckland next month. Samantha Smith, Year 12 Photography, who has focussed her subject-matter on the homeless and abandonment issue with her insightful photograph.
