2021 Online Cub Games (Crossfit Competition)

Mrs G Beardmore —

Congratulations to Columba's very own Bobbi Fleming-Wilson (Year 8) for entering in the 2021 online children's Cross Fit Challenge. Bobbi came 1st in New Zealand, and 8th overall in the world with her entry. What an outstanding achievement!

For the past few years, Crossfit NZ has been encouraging children and teens to join in with the CrossFit open season by having a Crossfit Cub Games. The Cub Games involve a worldwide online submission platform where all WODs (workouts) are released to the athletes at the same time, and then athletes are given five days to do the WOD, upload and then wait patiently to see where they sit in amongst the entire world.

For some time now, Bobbi Fleming-Wilson has been attending CrossFit sessions twice a week before school in the mornings with her mother and siblings. Bobbi absolutely loves CrossFit and opted for the scaled class of competition this year, wanting to work on her gymnastics portion of CrossFit before taking on the full RX version.

Bobbi competed in five events online as a scaled athlete in the age group of 10 - 13 years, and placed 8th overall in the world and TOP for NZ! Her biggest achievement for the games was a 46kg 1RM front squat. Bobbi's coach is Louise Richards from Crossfit Dunedin.

What an absolutely fantastic achievement Bobbi! We are very proud to be able to celebrate this with you.
