Netball Round Up 2022

Mrs G Beardmore —

Columba College is extremely proud of the progress and development seen across all Netball teams this season, and results achieved by a number of our representative teams suggest the Netball programme is going from strength to strength!

Columba College would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the amazing coaches, managers, and umpires from our community and beyond who have put up their hand to guide, coach, develop and support our teams over the 2022 netball season. From the Columba Senior A team bursting back into the Premier A grade, to our Year 1 & 2 players picking up fundamental skills for the future through our Junior development programme, the future of netball at Columba College is certainly looking bright!

Columba Senior A: Played a promotional-relegation match in May and stormed back into the Premier A Grade for the first time in many years! They then went on to back up this stellar performance and win the Otago Secondary School A grade netball champs, and had a superb SISS tournament in Timaru to finish 3rd overall. National Secondary School Championships are now booked for mid-October in Porirua. Congratulations, Senior A!

Columba Senior B: An amazing season from our Senior B team. They have been brilliant across the regular competition, taking out the Gold final on Saturday 27th August with a strong win over South Otago High School Senior A, 35-26 and were crowned champions of the Premiere Senior Secondary School Grade! We also won the Otago Secondary Schools Netball B Grade Champs with a superb win in the final over St. Hilda's Collegiate Senior B 39-35. Congratulations Senior B!

Columba Senior Bronze: A great season for this talented group of girls. They won their grade in dominant style with an excellent victory over Bayfield Senior B 31-22. The Bronze team has been brilliant to watch this season with their skill, teamwork and commitment to the competition.

Senior Social Doves: Finished off a solid season by coming 3rd overall in their grade. It's been great to see this group of senior students playing socially for the love of the game, and combining so well together. Nice work, Social Doves!

Senior Social Tartan: Coached by Principal, Mrs Duthie, the Social Tartan team placed 4th in their grade this season and should be very proud of their efforts. They have set a great example to younger students with their love of the game and positive attitudes throughout.

Columba 10A: Having grown in confidence and ability over the course of the season, Columba is extremely proud of the development seen in the 10A team this year. Taking out 1st place in their grade with an exciting 21-18 win over the St. Hilda's Comets team in the final of the season. Well done, 10A!

Columba 10B: 5th in their grade

Columba 10 White: 5th in their grade

Columba 9A: It's been a super season for this young and extremely talented team, winning the SISS Junior A Grade Champs in Christchurch, coming 2nd in the Otago Secondary Schools Year 9 Champs, and 3rd overall in their Saturday Junior Premier Grade. A win against the Taieri 10A team helped to secure 3rd, and they've finished the season on a high - a fitting end to an excellent season. Congratulations, 9A!

Columba 9 Navy: 5th in their grade

Columba 9 Orange: 7th in their grade
