Snapshots of Year 7-9 Religious Eduction

Dr Macleod —

Students in Years 7-9 have RE once a week. Here are some snapshots of the work we have been doing so far...

Year 7 students started the year by researching different books of the Bible and creating a colourful classroom resource from their work. We are now working on a unit that considers the question 'What is God like?'

Developing a positive sense of identity is a major component of our current unit in Year 8. Students have designed and coloured their own 'colouring-in' posters of verse, and are engaging thoughtfully with this topic.

In Year 9, we are looking at some of the major stories in the Bible. Students have created a fantastic timeline as a part of this topic.

For the last five minutes of each lesson, Year 7-9 students have the opportunity to reflect quietly and write about the things they are grateful for.

We have also looked at the theme of 'nourishing the flame,' made flax crosses prior to Easter, and eaten hot-cross buns.
