Dear Parents/Caregivers,

As part of the GATE (Gifted and Talented) programme in 2018, I am looking to give some of the high flying senior students more of an idea of what future careers could entail in practice. It would be great to get those who show particular interest or aptitude in certain curriculum areas to experience anything from an hour to a day shadowing somebody who works within that field.

We have a wonderfully diverse community of working parents at our school. Would you be interested in allowing a student or two to visit you at your work on one day during the school year for a set amount of time at your discretion?

The aim would be to cover a very wide variety of jobs, such as accounting, law, medicine, creative industries, IT, the care industry, academia, local government, politics, laboratories, agriculture, and businesses. It could make a substantial impact on a young person’s aspirations and how they pick their future studies.
