Columba College is happy to announce that we have reached our fundraising goal for the 2021 Free Wheelchair Mission Initiative!

We succeeded in raising over $2600 and our funds were matched by the Free Wheelchair Mission, meaning we donated 39 wheelchairs, surpassing our initial goal of 25!

Years 4-6 raised the most, followed closely by Years 0-3 and then Year 8. Well done and a huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped us to reach our goal! As their prize, Years 4-6 will have a non-uniform day next Friday, 5th November as well as a pizza party and donuts. Thank you to Fuji Xerox New Zealand for donating this generous prize.

In developing countries, the World Health Organisation estimates that 75 million people are in need of a wheelchair and cannot afford to buy one. Since 2001, the Free Wheelchair Mission has given away over 1.2 million wheelchairs to 94 countries, and Columba is proud to provide the next 39.
