Recently eight Year 10 Economics students went to the Growing NZ Innovation Challenge.

The challenge involved the girls being split into pairs then joining with a pair from another school to solve a problem that an agribusiness might have.

There were 16 teams in the end. There were 4 challenges with 4 teams doing each one.

Once they had their challenge the students had to work together to research the problem they had to solve and suggest solutions. The final part of the challenge was to market their solution to judges. One of our teams won one of the awards.

Maia Robertson was also awarded a special prize for teamwork – Most Valuable Person.

The students loved the opportunity to participate although they found the tasks quite challenging.
