Over the Matariki weekend Columba Chess entered the 18th Otago Chess Championships.

It was our first entry of a team for many years and the team of Alexa Choie, Haley Guan, Iris Gibson and Emily Berry should be heartily congratulated for their performance.

Columba came 6th overall in Otago; we had our top player Alexa Choie score first equal in the whole championship as well as the top female player in Otago. Columba was the only school in Otago to field an all-girls' team and we certainly held our own. Ka Pai!
