The Year 6 children are excited about, and engaged in their learning on the Chinese Gold Rush in Otago.

We have been learning about the factors that brought Chinese Gold Miners to Otago and about their life in the gold mines. The class has come up with many questions which they are currently researching and investigating the answers to. Alongside our learning, we have been enjoying reading our class novel 'Children of the Rush' and never want the chapters to end! During writing, the Year 6 children have enjoyed writing letters and diary entries from the perspectives of Chinese Gold Miners, as well as descriptions of the huts and landscape the miners lived and worked in. We are looking forward to continuing with our learning over the coming weeks and gathering further information.
