DYC Arts Festival + Recruitment!

Miss Helen Li —

The Dunedin Youth Council are excited to present 'Auaha Rangatahi' (Creative Youths) the second week of the upcoming October holidays, and we want YOU to join us! We are looking for all musicians, dancers, drama performers, and enthusiasts of any other art form who are willing to showcase their skills in a public and professional setting.

Our Arts Festival will run from Wednesday the 13th of October to Saturday the 16th of October, so performers should be available on at least one of these days. Classical musicians are encouraged to perform on Friday due to the choice of the venue being the most fitting. All performance gear/equipment should be provided by the performer, with the exception of chairs, microphones, and a piano (only available at the Otago Boys venue). Group performances should be no more than 15 minutes and solo performances should be no more than 10 minutes, however this is negotiable if your performance doesn't quite fit the timeframe. Our Columba students are amazingly talented so it would be really awesome to have lots of you performing there!

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at my email: helenli@columbacollege.school.nz Otherwise, I hope to see you all there as it would be lovely to get heaps of support for our next generation of artists in Dunedin!

Additionally, we are also recruiting new members for our 2022 Council. The Dunedin Youth Council provides an amazing opportunity not only for an expansion of your social circles but also allows youth councillors to connect with our community and receive an insight into council procedures. These applications will close at the end of the term, and again, if there are any questions please email me. Students should know that applications will not be open to current Year 7 and Year 13 students as the DYC represents current high schoolers only. Year 12 students are welcome to apply but will only serve one year of a two-year term for the same reason.
