Covid update from Mrs Duthie

Mrs P Duthie —

As today’s announcement made clear, we are staying in Alert Level 4 lockdown until at least 11.59 Tuesday night.

For the students in middle and senior school, this means we will be continuing with remote learning at least until Wednesday.

Please remember our remote online learning covers only those subjects for which you receive an Learning Engagement Report – core subjects and full option subjects.

We appreciate that some people are experiencing connectivity issues and we have informed the Ministry of Education about this. Staff will try to stay in contact with you via email or even by phone.

For students in the junior school, please continue to work through your packs at your own pace and staff will be in contact with you remotely as they were during our last lockdown.

These are challenging times for the whole country but the most important thing is that you are with your families and safe. When you exercise, please stay local.

As we were reminded:

  1. Get tested especially if you were at a place of interest during the times and dates specified on the website; contacted by tracers or have cold and flu symptoms.
  2. If a close contact, stay at home and isolate.
  3. Everyone needs to stay at home and stick to his/her bubble.
  4. If you visit an essential service (supermarket, pharmacy et al) you must wear a mask. A mask should also be worn when you leave home generally.
  5. Wash your hands and scan in.
  6. Be kind.

We have been through this before and everyone coped extraordinarily well. I would take this opportunity to thank our entire school community - staff, students and parents – for how well you have responded to the sudden developments last Tuesday evening.

To the students and staff involved in our show, High School Musical: On Stage, we continue working to make sure you have the opportunity to perform before a live audience. You have worked so hard and deserve the opportunity. It will be third time lucky.

In the meantime, enjoy the weekend and stay safe.
