National Secondary Schools' Triathlon Championships in Wanaka

Mr Potter —

Our Columba Multisport team had some great results on Sunday 16th Feb at the National Secondary Schools' Triathlon Championships in Wanaka.

With three individuals entered in the morning race, and one team, it was a great turnout. In the girls U13 individual, Melanie Button (year 8) placed 14th, with a time of 30.06. In the U16 individual, Catherine Lund (year 10) placed 11th, with a time of 39.48. In the U16 team category, our Columba Junior Doves represented the school on the podium, with 3rd in a time of 40.22! In the girls U19, Caitlin O'Brien (year 12) was 13th with a time of 1.03.0.

Later in the day, Catherine Lund and Caitlin O'Brien teamed up with John McGlashan for the new format MTR Tag-team relay U19, and placed 4th, an excellent result for Catherine especially, competing above her own age group. A big well done to all of the girls who competed, especially off of the back of the OSS champs/ Secondary Schools' Challenge triathlon last Thursday (13th Feb). With girls heading up for Oamaru SISS next weekend, it looks like we've got a great year of multisport ahead of us!
