Green frenchies visit our keen kiwis!

Miss Gardiner —

Year 12 and 13 students of French were invited to a lunchtime talk with 'green' travelers Solene Trinquet and Héloïse de Bokay. It's always a treat to have French guests in class but these girls were something special. This year they are on the road travelling 5000kms up, down and around the country...all in an electric camper van.

From dreams to reality...
Solene Trinquet and Héloïse de Bokay are on the road for 5000kms around New Zealand! They dropped by Dunedin in May to talk to our girls about their project, what they have learnt and most importantly discuss their passion of living sustainably. Our world and the environment is a popular topic at senior level French.

Students explore concepts such as global warming, sustainability and endangered species in the target language. They are expected to present their views and justify their opinions. Having Solene and Héloïse come visit was a spectacular way to start the unit and show the girls a real cross-cultural example of protecting the environment. The university students will be sharing what they have learnt in NZ to make changes back home in France as well as raise awareness.

We are anticipating the documentary the girls will make from their trip. For more information follow the two travellers on Facebook at NEWS & LAND or on their website  http://www.newsandland.com
