Year 12 Geography Karitane Field Trip

Mrs L Piebenga —

Recently our Year 12 Geography class enjoyed a field trip to Karitane to gain an understanding of Coastal East Otago and collect data for our Research internal assessment.

In class, we have been studying the Coastal East Otago environment and the interacting natural elements that create variation within it. Travelling to Karitane, we were able to see variations first hand and observe that natural processes in action.

Our class also took the opportunity to look at and collect data to establish whether there is variation along the Karitane coastline. This is currently being used to complete our 2.5 Research internal assessment.

All members of the class fully engaged in the activities of the day and were treated at the end to a pod of Orca Whales that paid us a visit while we walked over the Peninsula.

We were very grateful to have the company and support of Mrs Nicky Fowler and student teacher Miss Devyn Gilbert, who both joined us for the day.
