Emerson, Florence and Linda help in Year 0 during a rainy morning tea by Mrs K Lodge
Mrs K Lodge — April 9, 2024
This term in Year 6 we have been focusing on leadership. We began the year by looking at our unique gifts and strengths and thinking about the ways we can use these to show leadership in the Junior school this year.
As a class, we discussed that different people can lead in different ways. During our reading programme we have been reading books about leaders who inspire us and in Religious Education we have been looking at the ways Jesus was a leader and the example he showed. Following this, the class chose their own leader to research and present. We had a wide range of interesting presentations and it was fantastic to learn about such inspiring people.
As part of this topic, each student in Year 6 applied for their own Junior School leadership position. It was wonderful to read their applications and to see such thoughtful ideas. They have begun their new roles and are already making a positive difference in the Junior school with their initiative and care for younger children. The FBI (Fun Buddies Indoors) leaders have been planning activities for classes on wet days, the Jump Jam leaders are practicing ready to lead sessions next term, the Chapel Leaders have been working with Reverend Barlow on chapel services and the PALs (Physical Activity Leaders) have completed their training and led their first lunch time games sessions. We are very proud of them all!
