After many years of attending the Waitaki Basketball Tournament, the Columba Year 7 and 8 Basketball team win the 2019 tournament!

The Columba College year 7/8 girls finally won the Waitaki tournament after 5 years of attending. The team were coached by Mr Brett Dailey and Ms Kate Jerram with Mrs Sinclair as manager.

The team included Ryan Dailey, Amelia Loudon, Amelia Hollows, Pip Eason, Charli Sinclair, Alexa Duff and 2 non-Columba students: Millie Mackenzie and Lucy Morrison.

We played 7 games in two-and-a-half days and played a hard physical game. There were teams from North Canterbury, Mid Canterbury and South Canterbury and they were all very competitive. We had to work hard as a team to stay ahead. Every single member worked hard and achieved outstanding results. It was a fabulous result.

Special mention must go to Mr Dailey and Ms Jerram who have coached this group of athletes and have taken previous Columba teams to this tournament before, but now say farewell to this tournament.
