The Intermediate Department entered two teams for the Kids’ Lit Quiz last week held at DNI Intermediate School for the Otago region. The team consisting of Clara Ballantyne, Natalie McDonald, Tessa Smith (all Y8) and Alyssa Duthie (Y7) won the competition ahead of 18 other teams.

NZSTA has organised an initiative called Kōrari. The Kōrari programme is set up for parents and people in the community who would like to learn more about the role of school trustees. Kōrari is an introduction workshop and a set of resources that NZSTA has developed to provide governance training.

450 swimmers from around New Zealand recently competed at the 2019 Division II Championships held at Moana Pool from the 13 - 16 March. Seven swimmers from Columba College had a very successful swimming meet.

On Sunday 3 March Columba College had 13 of our junior and senior students participate in the annual South Island Secondary Schools Triathlon and Duathlon Competition held in beautiful Oamaru.

Junior School participants in the recent 2019 Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon held at Memorial Park, Mosgiel.

The Junior School recently appointed their Junior Leaders in an assembly. These leaders will role model and support students in the Junior School.

Murray from Rent-A-Hive came to share his knowledge about and passion for bees with the Year 3 and 4 classes.

The Year 5 class enjoyed visiting the Dunedin Art Gallery where they enjoyed the practical art session painting octopus, squid and sea creatures. They were shown interesting techniques to use to make their paintings bold and vibrant.
