The First XI excited to take the pitch! by Alena Wafer

Our first sport to start back up again on Monday saw 50 students wear the dove playing hockey for Columba!
It had been a long time coming but our teams finally took to the turf on Monday afternoon after a couple of weeks of training.
The First XI, with five new players, took on Taieri College in Division One. Once the nerves settled, Columba pulled away, scoring a range of impressive goals, to win 10-0. This was a great first-up game to get back into the swing of things!
The Second XI, entered into Division Two, played St Hilda's White in the late game. This team has a mixture of youth and experience, who worked together to build on their team-play throughout the game. It was a pleasing start for them as they won 5-0.
This year we have two six-aside teams entered in Division Three. Our Senior Blue team showed their experience against St Hilda's Blue, winning 8-3 in this fast format. Our Junior Green team had a very close game with a similar number of chances on goal. St Hilda's White managed to achieve more goals on target for a narrow win.
This was a great start to the season and we wish our teams all the best of luck next week!
