Mrs West joined the staff of Columba College in Term 3, 1997, as our first ever Assistant Principal, having moved from St Peter’s High School in Gore, where she was Head of the Science Department. It is interesting to read the introductory article about her published in the 1997 “Chronicle”, as she has spent the past twenty-two years modelling the values she held dear even then, so much so that we have attached that article below.

Columba aerobics athletes compete at NZCAF nationals in Queenstown.

There was laughter, stories, and so much chat as old friends caught up with one another when a group of boarding students from the 1940s and 1950s visited the College last Friday.

Melanie a member of the Otago U13 team, placed third in the South Island Age Group Championships held recently in Ashburton.

Six Feet Under, the Columba College Hip Hop crew, recently travelled to beautiful Queenstown to compete at the NZCAF National Hip Hop competition.

At a special assembly last Friday we were proud to present the Distinguished Alumnae awards to Dr Helen Beattie and Ms Skye Duncan and to celebrate their achievements.

It has been my privilege and pleasure to teach at Columba College.

The Year 4 class have been learning about design thinking. They had to find out from their stakeholders what features were important for their Blue-Bot road. Then they created the road, tested it and finally evaluated their work.

For the second year in a row our Junior School athletics had to be condensed due to the weather. The Year 4-6 classes did brave the icy winds to complete their track events at the Caledonian.

The Art department always looks forward to the visit of the Edogawa students.
