Columba College is fortunate to have a number of Class Act worth students but this year the awards go to Caitlin O'Brien and Penelope Hare.

Over 50% of NZ girls show a strong interest in STEM subjects at high school, yet only a third of all students studying tertiary STEM-related qualifications are women, and even fewer find jobs in the field - comprising only 23% of the IT sector and 13% of the engineering industry.

To conclude what has been a hectic term, the English Department held their traditional Year Level Speech Competitions across the last week, as a way to celebrate all things oratorical.

It definitely was third time lucky for our Columba College production of High School Musical: On Stage.

On Thursday, a group of Year 3 students went down to the Cancer Society to deliver our last collection, taken on Tuesday's kakahu kainga day. Thanks to Ms McKnight's project management, Columba raised nearly $4,000 for this excellent cause this year!

The Otago Tri Club ran their Winter Duathlon champs at MacAndrew Bay on Sunday 26th September. Despite cold and windy conditions, a field of 40 athletes braved the temperature and competed in either the 'Sprint Distance' or 'Have-a-go' events. Congratulations to our Columba College students who took part, especially with daylight savings stealing an extra hour of precious sleep preparation!

This week, we celebrated Mental Health Awareness Week by creating a display in Girton that contained a few ways in which we are able to manage our Hauora (wellbeing).

The Columba Snr A Girls team played hard every game and showed, despite their relatively young age, they were competitive in each game and a pleasure to coach.

The Columba College ‘Doves on Ice’ curling team came out sliding after last year's loss in the Dunedin curling tournament, guiding their stones to victory in the 2021 edition of the Dunedin competition, with eight wins and two losses in a Lockdown-impacted season.

To celebrate the Middle Autumn Festival (Moon Festival) and Chinese Language week 2021, there are multi activities arranged at Columba College.

During Lockdown our sports prefects Brianna Horne and Jorja Dinan ran multiple challenges which students had the option of taking part in.

This year the Primary Navy Junior Hockey team has had an awesome season.

Last weekend the Dunedin Performing Arts Competition Annual Singing Festival was held at St Clair.

On Thursday at lunchtime the International Department students and staff met together for a special shared lunch to enjoy some delicious food, congratulate the girls on their hard work during Term 3 and to make some sad farewells.

Throughout lockdown the Year 9 & 10 German classes took part in some class related competitions.
