Tēna koutou kātoa! I am now into the third week as Acting Principal, and am finding the role every bit as time-consuming as I always imagined it would be, yet I am grateful for the support of Mrs Marianne Parks and Ms Leah Hanan for overseeing the respective boarding and financial aspects of the role, allowing me to focus on the teaching and wellbeing of our students.

In the last week of Term One, a Herculean task was undertaken as 176 students attended a special matinee performance of 'An Iliad', a wonderfully contemporary adaption of the Greek poet Homer’s landmark poem 'The Iliad'.

Our Citizenship Prefect, Amy Waldburger, has joined forces with a former Columba student and John McGlashan College, Aidan Hung, to raise funds to support former Deputy Prime Minister, Sir Don McKinnon, and The NZ War Memorial Trust in their efforts to create a museum in Le Quesnoy in the north of France.

The Year 12 Geography class had a beautiful Dunedin day to travel to Karitane to complete fieldwork. The class have been studying coastal East Otago as part of their landscapes unit.

Every Tuesday at lunch time, Fashion Designer, Amber Bridgman is on campus to meet students as part of our Artist in Residence Programme.

The Year 13 Geography class spent Term One studying how glaciation has shaped the Wakatipu Basin, as well as how the process of tourism development has occurred in Queenstown.

As part of the learning in Year 9 Te Reo Māori classes, Ms Lindsay and Ms Rose had the pleasure of taking a group of students to the Araiteuru Marae in Shetland St in early May.

On March 15 we found ourselves standing on Princes Wharf in Auckland, about to start a ten day adventure at sea.

More than a team, this group of superstar players travelled to Rotorua to attend the annual Water Polo Nationals, 13-18 April and had a whole bunch of fun in doing so.
